This holiday season, our gift to us is an airy fryer. The hubs searched far and wide before settling on a large air fryer with a rotisserie spit. For good reason, too! We have a countertop convection oven with a rotisserie spit that we used to love. But it hasn’t been working as well, the spit is not quite good to use.

We have cooked so much in that air fryer since we purchased it. We’ve made two rotisserie chickens, countless batches of fries or tater tots, and pork chops. I made the most tender, juicy, and crispy schnitzel style pork chops and haluski the other day.

Which got me thinking, why don’t you see pork roast rotisserie recipes for the air fryer? There’s tons of chicken and beef, but not many pork recipes.  There must be more than those two uses for the rotisserie attachment for the air fryer.

So, I set out to make one!  I cooked up this Garlic & Herb Rotisserie Pork Dinner in our air fryer. However, I wanted this recipe to be one you could cook up any night of the week. Recipes like that should be quick to prep and easy to cook. That’s why I headed to my local Walmart to pick up a Smithfield® Garlic & Herb Loin Filet.

Smithfield® Garlic & Herb Loin Filet has real, all natural ingredients. They’re perfectly seasoned and perfectly marinated to grill, bake, slow cook, or rotisserie in your air fryer. Or easily cook in your air fryer without the rotisserie. I have instructions for that, too.

If you’re looking for a faster cooking time, then you can easily cube theSmithfield® pork for kabobs to grill or cook up in your air fryer. You can thinly slice them for satays or stir-fries. No, there is no reason you can’t make a garlic and herb stir fry. Stir-fry the pork with some Italian green beans, sun-dried tomatoes, and toss in some spinach and serve over rice. Voila Italian Pork Stir-Fry!

And, you can always slice it up into chops. Pork chops are perfect for pan roasting, sheet pan dinners, and even cooking in your air fryer. Oh, but we covered that already, remember? I talked about that delicious schnitzel style pork I made the other day.

This Garlic & Herb Rotisserie Pork Dinner is one of those set it and forget it a while recipes. All you do is take the pork of the packaging, thread it onto the spit, and set your air fryer to cook. That’s all. About 30 minutes in you need to add the baby potatoes.  Then you cook the pork 10 minutes after that. Check the temperature of your pork.  If it’s 140 then take it out, tent it, and let it rest.  If it isn’t, then check at 10 minute intervals until the internal temperature reaches 140.

Yes. I said 140. This is not your grandmother’s pork! Since Smithfield® marinated pork is 100% fresh cuts of pork, you don’t have to cook it to death. I pull my pork roasts out at 140, tent them with foil, and let them rest. The carry over cooking should bring it to between 145 and 150 which is perfectly moist and delicious.

However, if you prefer something a little more done, feel free to take it out at least 5 to 7 degrees before your desired internal temperature. Tent the roast with foil and allow it to rest 10 minutes.  By this time your pork should reach the perfect temperature for your family. And if you’re unsure, feel free to check out their video on cooking pork.

When you take the pork out, you add the steamed broccoli.  Sometimes the air fryer is a bit unpredictable with raw veggies.  I tried to just toss in some cauliflower and parts were extra crispy while others were crisp tender.  If you cook them for a few minutes in the microwave before tossing them in the air fryer then they will cook up and taste like roasted broccoli.

Garlic & Herb Rotisserie Pork Dinner is really simple. I took me 5 minutes at the most to get the pork roast on the spit. Since I used baby potatoes, I didn’t have to chop or peel them. The only prep work I had to do was open the bag of broccoli. Walmart sells freshly chopped bags of broccoli in the produce section. How simple is that?

While everything is cooking you can help the kids with their homework, unload the dish washer, or just veg on the couch because you’re exhausted.  I’m sure that’s probably what I would do.  Well, I might unload the dish washer.  Depending.

You can see how Smithfield ® can make mealtime delicious and hassle free.  I am almost embarrassed to call this a recipe.  It’s more a method of getting a real flavorful dinner on the table in no time.  And not just any dinner, but one made with real fresh ingredients that is perfectly seasoned.

For those not familiar with tying up a roast, here are some steps to help you:

  1. Cut a piece of kitchen twine about 4 feet long.  I pulled out enough to extend my arm 4 times.
  2. Measure the length of the roast with the twine and add about 2 inches.  That’s your starting point for tying up the roast.
  3. Wrap the remaining twine around the underside of the roast.  Hold the excess with one hand and wrap the longer tail around that piece like you’re wrapping ribbon around a present.
  4. Go down about 1 inch and wrap the long tail around the underside of the roast again.  Pass the excess through the loop and pull tight. You should have two loops around the roast with a line connecting them.
  5. Continue in this manner wrapping the roast and making loops until you get to the end of the roast.
  6. Turn the roast over and feed the shorter piece down the back of the roast wrapping it around each loop as you go.
  7. When you get the end of the roast, tie the two pieces of twine together making sure to cut off any excess string.

They have a great video on the website for a better visual.

Confession

I made this twice.  I bought two roasts since I had cooked a pork roast in the air fryer much less on the rotisserie spit.  The first one I overcooked.  Then it dawned on me!  You don’t put the roast in the oven when you’re preheating it.  So, why in the world did you put the roast in the air fryer when you were preheating it?  Duh!

The second one I didn’t put in the air fryer until it was preheated already.  That probably added at least 5 to 10 minutes to the cooking time.  That can make all the difference in the world with a rotisserie roast.  So, don’t do what I did and add it to the air fryer before it preheats.

Because, this is what you want your dinner to look like!  The potatoes are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.  The broccoli is tender with little roasted bits on the edges.  Love that!  And the Smithfield® Garlic & Herb Loin Filet is tender and juicy.  Garlic & Herb Rotisserie Pork Dinner is on the regular dinner rotation from now on!  And I know you’ll add it to yours, too.
